While a french clown claimed this was how Romanians say hi, as it turns out, in fact this is how the French music industry says hi: begging for handouts. That’s right, while the world sales shifts towards volumes and licensing, changing business models, the music industry lobbies for handouts, subsidies and eliminating competition. They begged so that “pirates” be forever disconnected from internet, so they got that. They begged to be allowed to rip-off artists and consumers alike, they got it. They begged to have a piece of every digital storage device sold in France, they got it as well. Now, in the middle of the crysis, they beg for getting free money from government and … they got it!

Nevermind things like getting some real managers able to implement innovative business models, push for a focus on digital media instead of physical media, nevermind establishing customer loyalty or anything that any sane business person would recommend – the music industry begs.

Why is the French government retarded?

because they give free money to the music industry: subsidies as well as a tax on any digital storage media (yes, that USB HDD you just got is a variable percent more expensive due to money that goes to the French music industry)

yes, that’s right!! The French government doesn’t have money to sustain its pension system but gives free money to the music industry!! So forget your retirement, enjoy crappy music downloads (it’s not that the French music industry produces anything except hip-hop).

Good night and good luck!

PS: Did you know that the head of the French government is a hobbit?
