CSI Miami: The weakest in the CSI franchise marked the end of it’s 8th season. Consistent with its reputation of being weak in script but with a great amount of “coolness”, the 8th season of CSI Miami ends with a suspenseful bang as always. In fact, if I were to note CSI Miami for anything, it would be for the coolness of Horatio Caine and the interesting supporting roles of Ryan Wolfe (Jonathan Togo) and Natalia Boavista (Eva LaRue). Renewed for a 9th, we expect to see a lot more of them (unless the cliffhanger comes true).
Supernatural: surviving its few flaws, Supernatural managed to outlive its planned 5 seasons and it has just 2 more episodes to go of it’s 6th season. Already renewed for a 7th, we cannot help but wonder what storylines are to follow given that the predictable ending of the 6th Supernatural season entails the breaking of Sam’s mind wall and the outcome of the celestial war.
CSI New York: The weakling in terms of audience of the CSI franchise has one episode to go of its 7th season. Unclear yet if it will be renewed or not, I dare for one to hope it won’t be. It’s been a while since we’ve last seen anything resembling a coherent storyline in CSI New York and given its pale characters (even Mac Taylor lost its glamour) I find it hard to care anymore about this series.
CSI Las Vegas: the original never falters, somehow managing to pull out of its sleeves rows and rows of fascinating characters. With one more episode to go, CSI Las Vegas is about to mark the end of its 11th series and of one of its most enticing storylines that pitched Ray Langston (Laurence Fishburne) against criminal Nate Haskell. With season 12 and 13 in sight, I wonder whether the show will be able to keep up.
The Event: the most suspenseful series pitched by critics against the likes of Lost or 24, The Event is close to wrapping up its 1st season. The pace quickens even more, with Dempsey pitching Sean and Vicky against Sophia, who herself is now radicalized against humanity. Simon chooses humanity over Sophia and his own kind, but the series finale heralds the arrival of the rest of the aliens.
Fringe: the 3rd season’s finale manages to pick up the show a bit, with the struggle between parallel universes grinding into a time paradox. The fourth season has been announced, with rumors that Emily Meade will join the cast permanently as FBI agent Ella.
The Big Bang Theory: with two episodes to go, the funniest of the bunch strolls ahead on the wings of the relationships formed in the previous season. The acclaimed show fueled by he genius of Chuck Lorre has been confirmed for a future three years by CBS in agreement with Warner Bros.
