The browser world has slowed its pacing so I haven’t touched the subject in a while. However, as it turns out, there have been changes worth mentioning:

  • Firefox has been steadily eating away at Internet Explorer’s market share. Microsoft’s flagship retains only a little over 50% now and it’s decreasing steadily
  • Firefox is closing in on its 4th episode, standing now at Firefox 4 Beta 6
  • Chrome has reached version 8 on the dev channel! However, the actual changes are mostly behind the curtain. I guess Google just loves big numbers.
  • Firefox 4 is going Microsoft on us with extensions we can’t remove!
  • Firefox 4 manages to take over twice the RAM as Firefox 3 family. Ever since Firefox 3 appeared, we learned that the memory hole bug in Firefox 2 was actually a feature that allows Firefox to cache closed tabs until it kills your computer after a day’s work. Great!
  • Firefox 4 doesn’t let you block removed cookies anymore. Sweet! Now your computer will once again be open to diabetes!
  • Firefox 4 tries to copy the Chrome look! (hence the title) No wonder that Flock switched its core to Chrome
  • Chrome kicks Opera in the nuts with web standards, but Opera still kicks Chrome in the nuts with speed. Tough choice!
  • Firefox 4 is a fast grasshopper of a browser!
