Have you ever wanted to start your own online recruitment company? With the help of today’s online environment known as the Internet and a pinch of human stupidity, you could be on your way of becoming a top recruiter in mere seconds.
So what would you need to get started with your recruitment service? A base of names from people looking for jobs and a computer. Then, contact some companies and offer your database of candidates for polling whenever they have openings.
Thanks to Ross Miller, Resource Executive at ECRMPeople (www.ecrmpeople.com), anyone can get their hands on a complete candidate database. Apparently, the people at ECRMPeople simply send their candidate database by email. But of course, that’s just one sample of recruiter stupidity.
Frankly, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I noticed the sheer number of people this Ross Miller sent a job advertisement about Web Development to. Could they really have so many qualified web developers in one database? Of course not! Once the recipients realized they’ve all had their email addresses disclosed to everyone, they started talking among themselves only to find out that many of them had nothing to do with Information Technology. So what happened?
- Ross Miller added their whole database of candidates from ECRMPeople to the CC (carbon-copy) of the recruitment email he sent
- Ross Miller send the email to everyone , disregarding their actual profession
- Ross Miller didn’t take the time to actually find proper candidates for his client
- Ross Miller violated the privacy terms posted on ECRMPeople by disclosing candidates email addresses and names
In short, Ross Miller and ECRMPeople are bad news for companies looking for candidates and for the candidates themselves alike.
