I am sure many of you have heard of Bioware. Bioware is a strange little phenomenon of a company that has become a legend in the realm of computer role-playing games. Working from behind a solid team of writers with amazing imagination, Bioware games have some of the best stories ever and frankly they are the only people who managed to work with worlds created by others and not only did they not wreck anything but have enriched and improved those universes.

In all their history, Bioware managed to produce only top games, not a single creation of theirs earnything anything less than the title of a RPG legend.

1. Baldur’s Gate: the first game of theirs I ever played and I loved every moment of it. An amazing story set in the Forgotten Realms, a bit linear but the fantasy universe rendition was so immersive that after finishing it I had to go and read some more Forgotten Realms books.

2. Baldur’s Gate: Shadows of Amn – the second take on Forgotten Realms had an even better story that the first, with nice but simple twists, many roads to the end of the game.

3. Neverwinter Nights 1 & 2: Bioware switched to a 3D engine which brought some confusion into play but the continuing Forgotten Realms tale was nevertheless immersive and deep.

4. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic: i have no words to describe the beauty of this story and the great twist that comes in the middle of the game. I have never been a Star Wars fan, but this great story about Jedi and Sith knights, force powers and lightsabres completely swept me away from my feet and left me dreaming of Jedi powers. Intricate quests, great story, a side-story of romance and redemption, all setting the stage for a grand finale that the unkwnon company Obsidian managed somehow to carry on in KotOR 2.

What is to come?

5. Star Wars – The Old Republic: Bioware will take on Warcraft and Lineage MMORPG’s with this Star Wars game that looks to be a real killer. The fact that Bioware never made anything less than great is a real alarm signal for all the other game makers. Not to mention the trailer looks great.

6. Dragon Age: Origins – a darak fantasy game set in the Dragon Age universe, this game is announced to be a more mature game than the Forgotten Realms fantasy games. A dark world of dragons and vampires will be unleashed on our computer this autumn.
